We handle the registration

A battery has to be registered with the grid operator and entered in the Marktstammdatenregister (market master data register) within one month of commissioning (Verbraucherzentrale, German). Funding and taxes for battery storage in Hannover

• 0% VAT: since 1 January 2023, the supply and installation of batteries on or near residential buildings has been VAT-free, including retrofits (§ 12 (3) UStG).
• No federal grant: there is no government grant for private batteries. You can finance the battery with the KfW 270 loan, which you apply for through your bank before the project starts.
• Region Hannover: the region’s Dach-Solar programme explicitly excludes batteries.
• proKlima: proKlima does not fund batteries. If you have a new system funded through DachVollToll in the proKlima area (Hannover, Hemmingen, Laatzen, Langenhagen, Ronnenberg, Seelze), you can get an additional €500 for an energy management system, as long as funds are available and you apply before placing the order.
